Som en del af Digital Business Transformation projektet har de tre virksomheder GEO, Avichem and Special Waste Systems deltaget med cases på Hardtech Entrepreneurship på DTU. Her har master studerende fra DTU arbejdet med specifikke digitale problemstillinger som de tre virksomheder gerne ville have hjælp til at løse. GEO fik hjælp til udvikling af en ny software, der hurtigt kan spotte nye offentlige udbud af start-up teamet LeadIN. Avichem fik hjælp til udvikling af software til digital opdatering af sikkerhedsdatablade af start-up teamet Liber Solutions og holdet der arbejdede med Special Waste Systems, udviklede et digitalt stregkodebaseret sporingssystem til farligt affald af start-up teamet Traste.
The HardTech Entrepreneurship team got a challenge by the company GEO, of developing an online calculation tool to consultants, contractors and professional developers to get price indication for geotechnical and environmental investigations for use in construction estimates.
After thoroughly analyzing the market, talking to potential users, customers, and other relevant stakeholders of the ecosystem, and working on existing data from GEO, the start-up team of LeadIN has develop a novel software solution to process public municipality summaries (using natural language processing), in order to efficiently identify building project leads in a user-friendly platform.
Their solution can allow their customers to get leads 2-5 days quicker than their competitors, which translates to a higher likelihood of getting contracts (55% higher rate). During the HardTech programme, the team got several LOI (letter of Intent) from potential customers (ByggeFakta, MOE).
Liber Solutions is a spin-out project of the Danish company, Avichem.
Avichem presented a project to one of HardTech Entrepreneurship teams on how to automate and optimize (streamline) resource intensive processes, in the chemical industry, reducing need for manpower. The team saw an opportunity in an industry with complex chemical regulations. Lots of standards, labelling and APB to uphold. Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are key for companies to abide by the regulation. These contain all information of their chemicals, which need to be managed and updated regularly. Companies spend a lot of time on maintaining their SDS.
Using web scraping, database management, and intelligent algorithms, Liber Solutions can increase chemical safety by supplying simple risk assessment and documentation for their chemicals as an online system (SaaS) to companies, hence avoiding manual work. Their goal is to increase awareness of harmful chemicals and making compliance with regulation easier.
Tracking of hazardous waste is an extremely challenging task for all parties involved in the process. Currently, there is no unified or legislated solution for solving the traceability issue. As a result, around 700,000 tons of hazardous waste is missing yearly. Apart from the environmental issues, this often results in substantial fines for the companies treating the waste.
Traste provides a digital traceability system for tracking hazardous waste from producer to disposer by using barcodes, databases and various software diagnostics tools.
The team developed their system based on a challenge by the company Special Waste Systems (SWS) on how to ease the process of weighing and register the type of waste when transported to the incinerator on a forklift truck.
After 13 weeks, they came up with an innovative business model where they can track hazardous waste all the way, from producers, to middlemen, and disposers, integrating governmental agencies in the tracking loop, and creating value for all of them. Their solution can allow verification of properly disposed waste, as well to automate the process of delivering waste to transporters. Furthermore, it will provide governments better statistics, and abide EU laws, achieving a greener environment by reducing pollution.
